Marseille released injured Andre Ayew on Friday to join the Ghana’s pre-Africa Cup of Nations training in Abu Dhabi, GHANAsoccernet.com has reported.
The French Ligue 1 wanted the hamstrung midfielder to remain with the club for treatment after picking up the injury in training last Wednesday.
But the Ghana FA rejected their request and insisted the 23-year-old reported to camp on Saturday.
Ayew, who is expected to be out for an initial five days, will be assessed by the Black Stars medical team.
He is expected to be fit for Ghana pre-tournament friendly match against Egypt on Thursday in Abu Dhabi.
Ayew is in line to make his fourth consecutive Africa Cup of Nations appearance.
