Violence has been reported in Idanre town in Ondo State while thugs are said to be snatching ballot boxes in some parts of the state as the governorship election got under way in the state.
Action Congress of Nigeria spokesman, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said in a statement that inadequate security in Idanre had given thugs adequate space to attack voters and snatch ballot boxes.
The party therefore called on the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission to urgently beef up security in the town.
An NGO, PollwatchNG, said in a message to INEC that thugs snatched four ballot boxes in Ondo West Ward 8 Unit 17; Ward 10 Unit 5; Ward 2 Ilajde; Ilaje Unit 16 ; and Main Ward 1 Obebe.
PollwatchNG also alleged that in Ofosu and 16 wards in Ilaje.
INEC has yet to comment on the allegations.
