Soldiers on Saturday morning arrested the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ondo State election, Mr. Olusola Oke, in Igbotako for allegedly violating the total restriction on movement.

The restriction order was given on Wednesday by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar.

At the time of his arrest around 6.30a.m, Oke was in company with some hefty men in two jeeps and two Hilux vans.

His bodyguard were ordered to sit on the tarmac while Oke reportedly got in touch with some influential Nigerians to secure his release.

They were released around 7.33a.m.

Oke confirmed the development to PUNCH on the telephone

He was invariably freed by 7:33am but could not give any reason for violating the restriction order.
