Some residents of Nsukka in Enugu State have condemned the murder of Mr Chinwike Asadu, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State by gunmen in Enugu.
They urged security agents in separate in interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nsukka on Monday to fish out the killers. Mr George Okeagu, a lecturer in University of Nigeria Nsukka, said the murder of Asadu in Enugu state had once again shown the level of insecurity in the country.
“The security agents should ensure that the killers of the police commissioner were arrested and prosecuted. It is painful that Asadu was assassinated in Enugu, his home state.
“If a police commissioner can be killed by unknown gunmen, only God can protect ordinary Nigerians on the street,’’ he said.
Mrs Vivian Ugwueze, a civil servant, said that the killing of Asadu in Amorji Nike, Enugu, on March 2 had robbed Nsukka people of an illustrious son. She said the deceased had through handwork and dedication reached the rank of police commissioner.
“I received the sad news of Asadu’s murder with shock. The Inspector General of Police should ensure that the killers of Asadu were fished out in record time.”
