The World Bank has said that it is ready to extend its partnership with Ekiti State Government in the area of development.
The World Bank’s Task Team Leader on Community and Social Development Projects in Nigeria, Prof. Foluso Okunmadewa, said this in a letter written to Governor Kayode Fayemi.
The letter was made available to our correspondent in Ado Ekiti on Monday by the General Manager of Ekiti State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Steve Bamisaye.
The letter read in part, “ Ekiti State Community and Social Development Agency has done so well and based on this the agency will be given an opportunity for extension of programme.
“More World Bank projects will come to the state in due course due to the eleven of seriousness and commitment shown by the agency to the issues of development.”
Bamisaye explained that the close working relationship of the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi with the World Bank based on the efforts to eliminate poverty got the state the new employment-driven partnership.
He said that 18 communities in the state were given cheques to carry out various development projects.
Bamisaye urged the communities to make judicious use of the fund ; adding that all traditional rulers community leaders of the benefitting communities and local government officials must ensure they perform their roles in seeing to the thorough implementation of the projects.
He commended local government areas which had kept to their promises of supporting CSDP in Ekiti State and reminded all councils to ensure that the projects particularly health centres were adequately staffed and equipped to achieve the expected result.
