US promises support for ICT, agric in Nigeria

The United States government on Wednesday said it would support programmes in Information Communications Technology and agriculture in Nigeria to boost its economy.

The US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Terence McCulley, stated this during a meeting with a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Emmanuel Ekon, in Abuja.

The envoy noted that programmes in ICT and agriculture would create jobs for many of the unemployed youths in the states across the Federation as well as tackle insecurity.

McCulley also promised to  open discussions with American investors on the need for them to invest in Africa, particularly Nigeria.

The envoy cited Akwa Ibom as a state where there was improvement in the quality of infrastructure.

He called on the state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, to use his position a the Chairman of the PDP Governor’s Forum to advise his colleagues to develop infrastructure that could attract investors to their states.
