All eyes will soon turn in the direction of humour merchant, Princess, who is planning to say ‘bye’ to the singles’ world, writes AKEEM LASISI
Marital issues have continued to ring through the worlds of several entertainment personalities in the country. From Stephnora Okere to Foluke Daramola and comedian Princess, it has been a week of different strokes.
First, a female journalist licked her wounds when she complained to E24/7 that she is the one who introduced Foluke Daramola to Kayode Salako, the man she (the actress) got wedded to recently.
Although she accused Daramola of having given the man love medicine, the actress does not need to say anything yet, because her sweet husband has swiftly responded more or less saying she is a time waster.
Okere is not accusing any woman of having snatched any man from her. But she has also told a weekly magazine that she is still in love with a man that seemed to have jilted her some years ago. Busybodies have already interpreted that to be Jim Iyke, who, incidentally, still remains single.
In the case of Princess, however, something wonderful appears set to happen in her life. Indeed, spiritually speaking, the comedian, who is fond of not-too-jovially wooing men in many of her jokes, is set to sing a new song. Nigerian Entertainment Today reports that she is set to wed on May 8, indicating that her wedding will be holding just about a month after Tuface Idibia’s marriage.
The lucky man is said to be ‘Ade’, and, to prove that the affair is far from being an April Fool’s gimmick, Princess is quoted as saying, “‘I’ll say we’ve known since 2005 because he’s known me since then, and he’s tried several means to get my attention.
“Even though it didn’t happen, he kept trying and recently, a friend introduced us and we hit it off. He’s a very quiet and private person, and someone who loves and understands what I do.
“He loves entertainment too, I won’t say more than that for now…”
With this, one can predict the direction some of her jokes may take when she stages her concert, coming up the same May 8 – which is also her birthday. Her thought line is bound to move from that of a humorist wooing a lover in style.
Rather, she will dwell on what it feels to be in love, find a man and retain him. And, thereafter, Princess will move to cracking jokes about the inevitable nuisance that comes with marriage – and the sweet tales the bedroom breeds.
