A Lagos High Court, Ikeja has just refused former Managing Director of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Mr. Erastus Akingbola, opportunity to travel abroad for treatment.
Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo in a ruling said Akingbola, who is standing trial for allegedly stealing about N47.1bn, failed to provide sufficient proof that his condition needs urgent attention and cannot be treated in Nigeria.
Akingbola is standing trial along with Bayo Dada, General Manager, Tropics Security Ltd.
However, the court relaxed the bail term requiring Akingbola and his co-accused to be reporting at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s office first working day of every month.
Instead of the weekly mandatory reporting at the anti-graft agency’s office, Onigbanjo, said the accused should only report there Fridays of first and third week of every month.
