Wedding auction: No big cash for Tuface

Soon acclaimed musician Tuface Idibia  will close  the auction of his wedding dresses, shoes and cap. He is,  thus on  the verge of making history. The singer  is not only about the first Nigerian artiste to embark on this intiative, he is also planning to give proceeds from the sale to charity.

Yet, apart from the fact the few responses have greeted the auction offer since bidding opened in April,  it has been generally uninspiring. There is possibly a  better way he can handle the project.

The artiste could  build a Tuface Museum and keep the wedding items and other spectacles about the brand Tuface there. The comparative advantage here is that he gets better institutionalised, while people can also visit the facility from different parts of the world. In this process, fees paid by visitors could still be channelled to charity.

The items put up for auction are the traditional branded cap he wore when he finally said ‘I do’ to Anie, and a pair of traditional branded shoes.

So far, the highest price of the 38 bids recorded for the cap is N11,000 by one Steven. It was last bid for on April 26.

While the highest bid for the Size 44 Suede shoes is  N35,100 by one topgee, the Benue-born star recently added  to the list an orange coloured overall he wore only once while performing his song I wanna be free, at the Indigo Concert, held last year November in London, UK. But so far, this has attracted seven bids, with Kevwe having made the highest offer of N3,050.

Incidentally, the property of the late singer, Goldie, was also auctioned in Lagos last month.
