With a heart of gratitude to God and compliments to President Goodluck Jonathan, I congratulate the tireless prayerful Nigerians, who interceded for the peace of our nation and President Jonathan for proactive steps. The President’s declaration of the state of emergency in the three states is in order. This is a signal that God has seen the misery of His people and as well visited Jonathan in a new dimension. Nigeria’s deliverance has begun somewhere and somehow.

The emergency rule for the three states in the North-East leaves those potential benefactors of terror and our intimidation untouched. Their present political positions and future ambitions all remain intact. What deters them from assembling new terror outfits, even if today’s combatants are liquidated?

The much awaited state of emergency that was declared by President Goodluck Jonathan in the affected states, expectedly, was received with mixed reactions by Nigerians. As such, I use this medium to register my dissatisfaction with the haphazard state of emergency declared in the affected states. To be candid, the action is an affront to the rule of law. In the real sense of the law, when a state of emergency is declared in a state, the political institutions are expected to be put on hold for at least six months, after which a sole administrator is appointed to manage the state for the time under review. Plausible examples are verifiable in the defunct Western Region in 1962, Plateau State on May 18, 2004, Ekiti State on October 19, 2006 by the Balewa and Obasanjo administrations respectively.
