I have always enjoyed Prof. Sabella Abidde’s articles in The PUNCH until the recent one titled, “14 years prison term for same- sex marriage”?, published on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
I want to start by saying that there is no basis comparing nefarious acts of politicians with the unprincipled behaviour of same -sex oriented people.
While criminal activities of politicians rock the economy of making tangible success, same-sex marriage on the other hand attacks the people’s moral value and is repugnant to good conscience and hence, should be condemned in totality. The law of the land should not be violated. A law in Delta State may not be a law in Ondo State. In the same vein, a law in Nigeria may not be a law in the Western world. The issue that same-sex marriage does not have effect on the economy is out of place. What is wrong is wrong. How will the writer feel if same-sex animals are copulating? Disgusting! I guess.
By the way, do same-sex animals copulate? If no, how then are humans who are supposed to be the epitome of morality now engage in same-sex marriage? Law is meant to correct anomalies. If same-sex marriage is allowed, other schools of thought will come up with an idea of a child getting married to his own parent and it will be seen as civil rights.
