Emotions ran high on Thursday as three victims of the October 28, 2012 suicide bomb attack on St. Rita’s Church in Ungwan Yero, Kaduna were buried in the church premises.
They were among seven people who died when a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber drove a car into a section of the church during morning mass and detonated Improvised Explosive Devices in his car.
The bomber also died in the explosion.
The wife of the state governor and some government officials watched as the bodies of Laraba Sule, Sarah Yohana and Samuel Ishaya were interred under tight security.
Three other victims of the blast had earlier been buried in separate locations by their family members.
However, the burial of the trio in the church compound was based on a request by the church.
Speakers at the funeral called for an end to religious intolerance and attacks on churches by the violent sect.
