According to Abraham Lincoln, democracy is the government of the people by the people and for the people. But, the reverse appears to be the case in the case of Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State as he is ruling Lagos with an iron hand, issuing decrees calling them laws. To make matters worse, all these so-called laws are anti-people meant to punish the masses to favour the elite; or what are we going to call the ban of okada from the rich abode called Government Reserved Area and some routes which as we all know are being plied by the rich. I’m appealing to Governor Fashola to stop robbing Peter to pay Paul. He should remember he was once part of the masses before his elevation. Please, consider the plight of the masses that suffer at the various bus stops everyday and revoke the bogus ban on okada, just regulate their activities by insisting that both the rider and the passenger should wear helmet, and the riders should observe the laid-down speed limit of each route. I’m very sure Lagosians would forever be grateful to him if he does this.

I strongly agree with the Lagos State Government that the traffic law as enacted has to stay. This is so because okada riders and one-way driving in Lagos have sent many innocent people to their untimely graves. I wonder why Nigerians easily forget or take things for granted. People who have suffered from these reckless drivers and okada riders will agree with me that their ban is long over-due.
