Floods victims in Bayelsa State heaved a sigh of relief as a confectionery company in the Niger Delta, Pepperoni Foods, donated assorted items to them at their Yenagoa camp.
The items given to the victims were bags of rice, beans, garri, yams, cartons of bottled water, tin tomatoes, soaps, disinfectants, beverages and bread. Others were mosquito nets, toiletries, mattresses, blankets and pillows.
Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Pepperoni, Mr. Eric Idogun, said in a statement on Sunday that the donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
“Humanitarian service is the most critical peg of our business orientation,” Idogun said, adding that it was his firm’s token of identifying with the victims.
Idogun said the gesture was extended to Bayelsa because “that was where Pepperoni started its business some years ago.
Besides, he said the state still plays a key role in the growth of the business in terms volume of profit.
“We saw what happened and felt the pains of the people. It is a natural feeling; I didn’t grow up in Bayelsa but we see the people on a daily basis.”
