Eko 2012 gets N10m, branded Coca Cola products

Nigeria Bottling Company on Tuesday said it would support the coming National Sports Festival, tagged Eko 2012, with branded 50cl Coca Cola products worth N1m as it also announced a donation of N10m to the hosts Lagos State.

The company’s General Manager, Ben Langat, said the gesture was part of the company’s commitment to the growth of sports in Nigeria, adding that after discussion with the state Governor Babatunde Fashola, it was only honourable to appreciate the state’s recognition of the company as a partner in hosting the Games.

“It’s our delight to be given the recognition as partner in hosting the festival. Coca Cola is known to be a strong partner of sport competitions. We have supported the Olympics, World Cup, Copa Cola Cola and other sporting events world wide so coming into the festival is our social responsibility,” he said.

“We have always collaborated with Lagos State in sporting activities and school sport initiatives. By coming into the Games, we are doing what we can to support the participants at the festival and supporting the people’s means of livelihood.”

The state deputy governor and chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, thanked the company for the gesture, confirming the readiness of the state to host a memorable event.

“NBC’s partnership with the state is a welcome development that will go a long way in helping to empower the youths in Nigeria,” she said.
