It is time to watch several Nollywood films that made impact in the past, as they are due to be screened during a celebration of Nollywood @ 20, starting from April 27.
This is one of the programmes lined up for the project being anchored by some heads of guild in the film industry.
The President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima, said the event was coming after President Goodluck Jonathan had celebrated the anniversary with practitioners.
She said, “Mr. President recognised Nollywood’s contribution to Nigeria’s economy in addition to re-branding of the country’s image, youth empowerment and employment. Now, Nollywood wants to celebrate 20 years of a motion picture revolution. This grand celebration will showcase our people, pride, possibilities and culture.”
The programme will begin with a stars’ parade, to be followed by a mini documentary presentation, showing of best of Nollywood films, insight into Nollywood at 20 events and an interactive session with the press and invited guests.
It will also feature a raffle draw and CSR activities such as coaching clinics, visits, social work, fundraising and donations to the less privileged.
