Law Mefor writing on the above topic on Tuesday has brought to the face of every Nigerian, especially concerned citizens, the cardinal causative factors in our today’s deplorable and delaying Nigeria. Unfortunately, it won’t make any meaning to a vast majority of those who occupy positions that could be used to effect the change we all crave for. Again, so much as I am optimistic about positive change in our situation, I fear there is little hope because as against the educational and religious systems, (which Mefor calls to stand up to their obligations) as instruments to these changes, I see the family as instrumental because as he (Mefor) rightly pointed out, this is where the rudiments and fundamentals of this formation begin. Sadly enough, we have lost our family values. If psychologists investigate the perceptions and worldviews that are prevalent in our contemporary families, we would certainly realise that though we might have a light at the end of the tunnel, that light is very, very dim.
