After bagging the award for the best actor of the year in the just concluded Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award, O.C Ukeje told Saturday Beats that his next stop is the altar. Spotted at the premiere of The Weekend Getaway, the young man told Saturday Beats that ladies were fond of throwing their phone numbers into his car.
He said,” There are occasions when I am driving and someone would throw something into my car. Reflex makes me dock but when I check what it is, it is a lady’s phone number.”
The award winning actor stated that his fiancée was well aware of his female fans in the same way as he knows that there are guys chasing his lady but they both understand each other.
“God willing, I plan to get married next year. There is a woman in my life and she is not into this business. We have never had issues over me and my female fans. This is not to say that she is not aware. She is definitely aware but I am not also settling down with someone that is not good looking because she gets chased by men as well.
“There are people, who are higher in level than I am, they have more money than I have and might be interested in her. I see some of those and might be worried. It is a two-way streak; she’s scared, I’m scared but we are together and making it work,”Ukeje said.
Commenting on allegations of bias about his award, Ukeje says he expected comments like that. He said that although Amstel Matla sponsored the event, they did not in any way influence his award.
He said, “Winning the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award was a humbling experience. I had really powerful people to contend with in my category, people that are really good at what they do. This is Africa and I know I just have a few movies in circulation; it is just really wonderful to know that the viewers know I am good enough.”
