A school of thought defined politics as a strife of interests masquerading as principles. Whose interest and principles are the members of the lower chamber of the National Assembly protecting when they passed a resolution asking the Inspector-General of Police to arrest Asari Dokubo over a remark credited to him? He was quoted to have said, “The militants will return to the creeks if President Goodluck Jonathan does not win a second term in office come 2015”. Though violence is crude, one question that must be asked is: What was the resolution of the same House of Representatives when persons from a section of the country threatened to make the nation ungovernable should Goodluck Jonathan win the presidential election in 2011? Nothing!
