The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa has appointed DBN Sports as its marketing consultant for all its programmes for an initial period of four years, renewable on the basis of performance.
The agreement stipulates that DBN will be responsible for marketing all ANOCA activities, with a view to getting adequate funding for such events like the All Africa Games, the Africa Olympic Village, the African Youth Games, the ANOCA Games for Seniors and the Olympic Africa Project.
ANOCA said in a letter signed by its President, Lassana Palenfo, and addressed to the Chairman and President of DBN Ltd, Mr Osa Sonny Adun, that the foremost Nigerian sports marketing and television station was chosen as its consultant based on the strong pitch it made and the immense record of proven prowess in sports marketing over the years.
“Following your presentation to the ANOCA Executive Board on June 26, 2011 in Lome, Togo, on marketing opportunities open to ANOCA activities, DBN is hereby appointed marketing consultant to ANOCA,” said Palenfo.
Commenting on the deal with ANOCA, Adum said DBN Sports was capable of delivering its part of the deal. He added that within the DBN Group, there is an arm in charge of sports marketing that dates back to 1984 when it marketed and televised the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games to the continent.
